Izz al-Din al-Qassam: the hero and the time when they need him

Abstract
Izz al-Din al-Qassam is one of the most important elements of the Palestinian historical narrative. His name is associated with the announced uncompromising resistance to the Zionist settlement activities and the administration of the BritishMandate. His death in November 1935 contributed to the fact that he became a martyr who died in the course of the heroic jihad in the name of faith and homeland. The re-emergence of Al-Qassam as a marker of national narrative became possibleonly after the registration of the first Palestinian political organizations outside the former Mandate of Palestine. Left Palestinian organizations were the first turned to his figure, but then he had been "assigned" by religious structures. However Al-Qassam never became a hero of the Fatah movement and appellation to his personality from left-wing organizations such as Hamas has been subject to fluctuations.
