Abstract

This publication ends up Russian translation of a chapter from al-Kitāb al-Ṭabaqāt al-Kubrā (Great book of the Classes) by renowned Muslim biographer Ibn Sa‘d (d. 845). His treaty is a well-known piece of Muslim biographical literature of the early Islamic times never translated into Russian to date. It includes precious information on 4250 persons beginning from the establishment of Islam through the time when Ibn Sa‘d lived. The translated chapter provides readers with a detailed version of the first rightly guided (rashid) caliph Abū Bakr al-Siddiq. This is one of the fullest and most interesting biographies of Ibn Sa‘d’s book.
